Prestoncrest Church of Christ. Passion for God ... Compassion for People.

The Prestoncrest Story

Prestoncrest was a church-plant that began meeting in January of 1972, just off of Central Expressway and I-635 in Dallas. The congregation moved between temporary locations before meeting at the present location on 6022 Prestoncrest Lane in 1973. George Bailey, the first minister of Prestoncrest, preached his first sermon for the members on Sunday, March 22, 1972. The membership at that time was 243.

The dream to plant the Prestoncrest congregation originated in 1966 from Charles Wooldridge, a member of the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ. The initial dream grew when a steering committee composed of members of the Skillman Avenue, Preston Road, Waterview, and Lake Highlands congregations worked together to implement the vision of planting a new congregation in North Dallas.

In 1988, Dr. Prentice Meador joined Prestoncrest as the Preaching Minster and preached at Prestoncrest until his retirement in 2007. In 2008, Dr. Gordon Dabbs became the Preaching Minister.

Prestoncrest also owns the Preston Place Garden office building across the street from the main building to accommodate our growing need for office and classroom space.

Prestoncrest has grown from an attendance of 243 to an average attendance of over 1400.

The churches of Christ, of which Prestoncrest is a part, are part of the Restoration Movement, a non-denominational body of churches that seek to glorify Jesus by following the simple teachings of New Testament Christianity.
